| Technical The basal temperature method: Basal Body Temperature: Basal temperature is the normal body temperature of a healthy person immediately upon awakening in the morning. In women, this temperature normally rises in response to hormonal changes associated with ovulation. By recording basal temperatures between menstrual cycles, the timing of ovulation can be determined. The Special Basal Glass Thermometer: The scale on the Basal Thermometer is extended between each tenth in order to easily measure the slightest temperature variations. It is different from usual thermometers and is not meant to measure fever due to illness. Temperature Tracking Chart: Recording temperatures on your personal chart (enclosed) will provide information to your doctor or counselor for fertility diagnosis or for use in natural family planning techniques. Seek Professional Guidance: Remember that temperature fluctuations and other observations are only indications of ovulation. Interpretation of such information requires special knowledge and training. Consult your physician or family planning counselor for professional guidance. |
